Sunday nights used to feel like bracing for impact. I needed a Sunday reset!
The school forms. The carpool schedule. The client project due Wednesday. What’s for dinner on Tuesday? And that idea for the business that you still haven’t started. It all swirls around in your head until Monday arrives and the week starts running you.

If that sounds familiar, you don’t need more discipline. You need a rhythm. You need a Sunday Reset!
That’s what a Sunday reset routine is: a short, intentional time each week to step back, get clear on what matters, and plan your home, work and goals before the week gets loud. Mine takes about 20 minutes (and one cup of coffee), and it’s the single habit that’s made the biggest difference in how my weeks feel.
In this post I’ll walk you through exactly how I do it, step by step, and give you my free Notion template so you can try it this Sunday.
A Sunday reset routine is a weekly planning ritual where you:
Some people use Sunday resets for cleaning and laundry. That’s great too! This reset is about clearing your mind and planning with purpose, so your time goes where your priorities are.
If you’re a mom, business owner, or woman leading something meaningful, your week has a lot of moving parts. Without a system, three things usually happen:
A weekly reset solves all three by giving you one calm moment to see the full picture and make decisions before you’re in the middle of the chaos.

I built my productivity system and my weekly reset around five simple steps that spell ALIGN. Give each step about 4 minutes.
Before you look at a single to-do, ask yourself:
Then finish this sentence: “If I only get one thing done this week, it’s…”
This is the step most planners skip, and it’s the one that changes everything. When your week is anchored in your values, it’s much easier to say no to what doesn’t fit. (For me, this is also where I pause and pray over the week ahead. Make this step your own.)
Now do a brain dump. Write down everything you’re mentally carrying:
Don’t organize yet. Just get it out. You’ll feel lighter immediately.
Here’s where most planning systems fall apart: we plan work in one app and family in another. Instead, look at your week at a glance in one view:
| Day | Family + home | Work + goals | Who’s driving / needs what | Dinner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mon | ||||
| Tue |
Seeing it all together shows you the busy days before they surprise you, and lets you plan around them. Bonus: ask your family, “What are you looking forward to this week?” It turns planning into connection.
From your brain dump, pick 3 tasks that actually move your goals forward this week. Not 15. Three.
Then note:
That last one is powerful. Every yes needs a no somewhere.
Finally, look back before you look ahead:
This step keeps your ambition sustainable. Growth without rest isn’t a strategy. It’s burnout waiting to happen.
You can do this reset with pen and paper, and that’s a wonderful place to start. I use Notion because:
If you’ve been curious about Notion but felt overwhelmed by it, a weekly reset is the perfect first step. You don’t need to build a whole system. Just start with one page.
I turned my exact Sunday reset into a free Notion template so you don’t have to build it from scratch. Inside you’ll find:

Tips to make your Sunday reset stick
How long should a Sunday reset take?
About 20 minutes once you get the hang of it. Your first one may take 30–40 minutes while you set up.
Do I need to know Notion to use the template?
No. The template includes simple instructions, and you only need a free Notion account. I’ve also included a PDF format if you are a paper planner kinda gal.
What if Sunday doesn’t work for me?
Pick any day that starts your week. Many moms prefer Saturday mornings or Monday before the kids wake up.
Is this just for moms?
Not at all. It’s for anyone juggling a full life and big goals: business owners, side-hustlers, ministry and nonprofit leaders, and busy professionals.

Your week doesn’t have to run you. With 20 intentional minutes, you can walk into Monday knowing what matters, what’s coming, and what you’re saying no to.
Grab your coffee, grab the free ALIGN Weekly Reset, and try it this Sunday. Then come tell me how it went on Instagram @theorganizedambition. I’d love to hear! 🤍
